WCAG - Web Content Accessibility Guidelines
- Globally valid standard for accessible web design
- Developed by the World Wide Web Consortium W3C
- W3C: WAI (Web Accessibility Initiative) with the aim of realizing barrier-free access to the Internet for everyone
- WCAG "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0" were first published in 1999. This contains recommendations that have also been passed into law in individual countries
- It was last updated in June 2018 to WCAG 2.1
4 basic principles
Perceptible
Information must be presented in such a way that it is perceptible.
Operable
All components of the website and the navigation must be operable.
Understandable
Information and operation of the website must be understandable
Robust
All content on a website must be robust enough to be interpretable by assistive technologies.
